An Update
Although I have not posted here in a while, I have been keeping up with my winemaking – but sadly, a dear and close friend of mine passed away after a long battle with cancer. He took a serious turn for the worse about three weeks ago and I tried to spend as much time with him as I could, which meant that other things were put on the back burner.
Unfortunately, I can’t quite recall all that I’ve done with the home winery here since my last post, but much has entailed degassing wines, racking wines, and even bottling one or two.
Some of what I can remember:
1. I started more melomels (meads), includng a strawberry melomel and a blueberry melomel (links are to recipes). As well, a basic dry honey mead.
I also started another Kenridge “Founders’ Series” wine kit, this time a blend of Australian Cabernet and Shiraz. My review of the kit thus far is here.
I’m hoping to have another review of a more economical wine kit posted shortly as well.
Anyhow, hope all are doing well!
Sorry about your loss Ian. I know cancer is a tough thing to fight. My wife has been battling it since September. First the radiation treatments were killer and then the operation about 3 weeks ago. So far, everything looks great. But, we always have to be careful about a relapse. Really puts into perpective of what is really important.
